Aimee Louw is a writer and journalist who lives in Tiohtiá:ke/ Montreal. During her residency she will develop short stories that explore themes including: the role rest plays in family relationships, how household objects would perceive chronic illness, and some ironies of everyday disabled living. Inspired by Ross Gay, Alexis Pauline Gumbs, Téa Mutonji and Myriam Lacroix, Aimee wants to put energy towards playing with satire, humour, joy and emotional reality.

To contribute to building artistic community, Aimee runs the Unruly Writers Club, a drop-in writing group for disabled and queer writers and friends, which she founded with Metonymy Press. Her poetry chapbook ‘Less Sweet than Chocolate or Concrete’ was nominated for Best New Poets in 2020. Aimee holds an MA in Media Studies from Concordia University and is a graduate of The Writer’s Studio at Simon Fraser University. She is grateful to the AIM Lab for support on this project.
